Welcome to the website for Sledmere & Wetwang Federation

Headteacher's Welcome

I am very proud to be the Executive Headteacher of Sledmere and Wetwang Federation. On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I would like to offer you a warm welcome.

Our school is a Federation consisting of Wetwang CE Primary School and Sledmere CE Primary School, set in the rural villages of Wetwang and Sledmere in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Visitors to our school comment positively on our small class sizes, picturesque setting, facilities and the stimulating environment. They describe our atmosphere as respectful, calm and nurturing.

Our schools offer safe, welcoming and nurturing settings that offer a sense of belonging to pupils and families alike. With a legacy of over 150 years of history our schools successfully retain a sense of tradition, whilst continuing to develop a culture of innovative and inspirational teaching and learning.

Today, learning takes place in attractive school buildings, with first-rate facilities. Our amazing outdoor environment means pupils often work outside on engaging project work. The diverse grounds include fields, adventure trim trail equipment, friendship benches, a vegetable garden and even a yurt! We are also very lucky to be able to use the facilities on offer at Sledmere and Wetwang Village Halls and on the impressive Sledmere estate.

As Executive Headteacher, I am fully committed to the community of both schools and strive to ensure that the school serves our local children and their families well.

It is my priority that each child within our school receives the best education we can offer to enable them to thrive. We are ambitious for all our pupils and believe that an emphasis on high quality teaching is a key feature of our success.  Our pupils are friendly, inquisitive and self-motivated. We develop their awareness of the endless possibilities that await them in their lives and nurture a confidence to embrace whatever comes their way.

We are very proud of our distinctiveness as a church school. We have strong links with the Diocese and work in partnership with the wider church school family.

We are committed to preparing our children for living in a global community. Our passion for celebrating diversity and the richness of other cultures can be seen in all aspects of the school’s work.

We hope you find our website clear, informative and easy to navigate. It is designed to give you a flavour of the vibrant life of both of our schools, the work of our pupils and the high quality education we deliver. If you would like to know more about our school, you are very welcome to arrange a visit. The children, staff and I very much look forward to showing you around.
